'To watch us dance is to hear our hearts speak.'
Hi and welcome to students and parents, friends and families! I am Allison Burnham, Director of Bravo Academy of Dance. I am a transplanted New Yorker who loves living in North Carolina! I graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a degree in psychology and religious studies.
Dance has been a part of my life since I was seven years old. I continued dancing and choreographing during college, with Blank Canvas Dance Company at UNC. I love all styles of dance, but I especially love lyrical, which is one of the styles I will be teaching this coming year! In my spare time, I like to sing, read, and eat ice cream. I am very excited to be a part of your dancer's life and pass on my love of dance!
Hi everyone! My name is Liza Ashton and I am so excited to continue my teaching at Bravo! My family and I moved back to North Carolina after being in San Antonio TX for 10 years. While I was in Texas, I was the Artistic Director of LA Performing Arts and the Lead Choreographer for the Sensations Dance Company. I have danced with three professional companies and worked as a professional actress in LA. I also have over 15 years of stage experience! I have professional experience in ballet, jazz, contemporary, and musical theatre and I am excited to teach all of these disciplines at Bravo!
Hello everyone! My name is Katie Bradford. I am a graduate student at UNC Chapel Hill studying Environmental Sciences Engineering. I have been dancing since the age of 2 at different studios, different companies, and community outreach performances. I was the president of the dance organization, Dancers Symposium at Carnegie Mellon University. I will be teaching several genres this year and am looking forward to teaching your child at Bravo!
My name is Dayna DeFilippis and I am excited to join the Bravo family! I am a graduate of The University of Arizona, where I earned my Master of Fine Arts Dance degree with an emphasis in choreography. I was the Dance Director at the University of Nebraska, Kearney for the past three years, where I taught dance appreciation, jazz, tap, ballet, and modern. I am also an active member of the National Dance Education Organization; I will present two research projects at this year's national conference in Washington, DC. Prior to pursuing graduate studies, I worked in the industry as a teacher at private studios throughout the Midwest and director of youth performance companies and public outreach programs. I am excited to share my expertise and love of movement!
Hi everyone! I am Allie Ray, a current junior at Guilford College. I am a Chapel Hill native and have been dancing for sixteen years. I am very excited to share my love of dance with you all. I have danced with different companies and performance groups in all genres of dance over the past ten years and am excited to see what my future holds with Bravo. Dancing has shaped who I am and I can't wait to help provide an outlet for dance in the community and to watch our students grow as dancers and people!
